To access homeless services a household must first register as homeless with their local authority providing documentation as proof of their circumstances. This is the first and most important step in qualifying for Homeless HAP.
The introduction of this online facility greatly reduces the length of time it takes for the local authority to assess and approve the registrations. The system prioritises applicants that are sleeping rough so that emergency cases are dealt with ahead of less urgent cases. The portal works on mobile devices allowing applicants liaise with council staff despite having limited technical facilities. All communication with the council staff is recorded and logged for full transparency.
